Incident reporting: key to safer care

Incident recording plays a crucial role in healthcare. It helps identify risks, improve patient safety and comply with laws and regulations. It also contributes to customer trust and provides valuable insights to structurally improve processes. Therefore, it is of great importance to report incidents to the manufacturer in a timely manner with all available information, so that appropriate actions can be taken and investigations can be carried out where necessary (and possible).

At Lopital, we take incident reporting seriously. We collect, analyse and track reports related to our products and services. This enables us to take quick corrective action and ensure that our solutions meet the highest safety standards. One challenge in this is obtaining complete and accurate information from customers and users.

As Quality & Regulatory Specialist, I am responsible for setting up and maintaining an incident recording system that meets regulatory requirements. I support teams in analysing and solving problems. For example, by analysing recurring reports of a product defect, we discovered a design flaw and with a minor modification. Insights like this contribute directly to product improvement and customer satisfaction.

To comply with standards such as the MDR (Medical Device Regulation) and ISO 13485, we conduct regular audits and train our staff in quality and safety procedures. By properly recording incidents within our organisation, we can assess them, discuss them and, when applicable, link them to a quality management process. By staying in touch with the healthcare facilities, we obtain the right information about the incident and can advise what the next steps are.

The healthcare sector is developing rapidly, with digitisation and data-driven analytics as key trends. Smart systems can identify risks early, and cooperation between healthcare institutions and suppliers is becoming increasingly important. Lopital continues to look ahead: by deploying advanced data tools and artificial intelligence, we can improve incident analyses and optimise our preventive maintenance programmes. In this way, we continue to guarantee quality and safety and contribute directly to innovation and growth.

Ceiling lifting systems beneficial for caregiver and client

Research commissioned by RegioPlus in the context of Gezond & Zeker conducted by LOCOmotion.

For 2 years, the healthcare organization SRVZ equipped 1450 apartments with
X-Y ceiling lift systems. All caregivers involved were trained beforehand, then the
systems were put into use. This process was followed through practice-oriented research commissioned by RegioPlus in the framework of Gezond & Zeker. The results speak for themselves and the musculoskeletal complaints of caregivers decreased in a short period of time.

CAREGIVERS WERE EXCEPTIONALLY SATISFIED WITH THE 9 CEILING SYSTEMS. THE AVERAGE RATING WAS A 9.

-18% LESS BACK COMPLAINTS "A great future: now there will be improvement"

-26% LESS NEXT, SHOULDER ARM COMPLAINTS "Makes the client feel more secure"

-42% LESS KNIE COMPLAINTS "Less stressful for both myself and my client"

Meet the LUNA® X5!

To meet the various challenging needs in today's healthcare environment, Lopital is launching the new LUNA® X5, a unique ceiling lift system for the safe transfer of patients.

Indeed, research* has shown that the use of ceiling lift systems has positive effects on the physical strain of caregivers, their time commitment and the perception of clients. Physical complaints of caregivers decreased significantly in a short period of time while the systems are more comfortable and less tiring for clients. In addition, the use also provides a clear time saving compared to other lifting systems.

The new LUNA® X5 is innovative of its kind and sets the new standard in ceiling lift systems based on 3 important pillars: design, simplicity and durability.

Design: LUNA® X5 is designed for discreet, elegant, and seamless integration into any care environment.

Simplicity: All-in-one lift: fixed and portable mode with adjustable lifting capacities (150, 200, 275 kg) combined in one single product.

Sustainability: Made of minimum 75% recycled aluminum, reducing scope 3 carbon footprint by 66%.

Since we have full confidence in the reliability and durability of the LUNA® X5, we also offer an excellent 5-year warranty.

For safe transfer:
- One motor for every situation, usable both fixed and movable
- Lifting capacity of 275 kg
- Easy to connect mobile motor
- Ultra-light weight of only 5.2 kg
- Modern and timeless design, aesthetic and sleek wall rail system
- Minimal maintenance; exceptionally long service life of battery and lifting strap
- Easy and quick to install
- Lifespan of 20 years or 33,000 lifting motions
- Lowest CO2 footprint and total cost of ownership

With the innovative LUNA® X5 we set the new standard in ceiling lift systems!

Statmeter

Are you also attending the Statmeter workshop at the Gezond & Zeker Innovation Day?

On May 12, 2025, all occupational coaches, safety coaches, executives, HR professionals and P&O and ARBO professionals are welcome at the NBC Nieuwegein for the Gezond & Zeker Innovation Day! The day is dedicated to developing and sharing knowledge about reducing and preventing absenteeism among health and welfare employees. Of course Lopital is also represented and you can follow a workshop about our Statmeter. The workshop will be given by Nico Knibbe.

Static overload: a silent killer, StatMeter helps raise awareness.
Static overload is a major and growing problem in healthcare, in part, but mainly due to working in uncomfortable positions. This static strain can lead to serious neck, shoulder and back complaints, resulting in long-term absenteeism. A new online tool, the StatMeter, developed by LOCOmotion in cooperation with Lopital, offers an innovative and preventive solution to make care providers aware of their static load and provides tips to prevent complaints.
According to Nico Knibbe (Movement Scientist at LOCOmotion), static load is a silent killer. "You often don't notice it right away because you don't feel it right away. You often feel heavy lifting immediately, but static load is more insidious. You only feel it when your bucket has slowly filled up, you develop symptoms or even drop out," Nico explains.

StatMeter
The StatMeter is designed to address this problem at the front end. By completing a short questionnaire online, healthcare professionals gain insight into their own physical load capacity. The tool then offers practical tips to reduce static load, which can help prevent symptoms
prevention. But it also encourages healthcare professionals to come up with practical solutions themselves. "Completing the StatMeter can be done individually or within a team," Nico says. "If you do it as a team, it also provides space for discussion and awareness during team meetings, for example."
The StatMeter is free and easy to use. Completing the questionnaire is done anonymously and personal data is not stored. "It's a nice free tool, with no snags," said Nico Knibbe.

Veur Mekoar

Review of Carnival 2025.

This year, Lopital sponsored the grandstand of Stichting Veur Mekaor.

Stichting Veur Mekaor, a household name in Den Bosch since 2007, makes it possible for disabled people, young and old, to participate in popular events in Den Bosch. With the help of volunteers and 'Friends' they arrange, among other things, a grandstand at the carnival parade. The grandstand has room for about 65 disabled carnival-goers, allowing them to experience the parade from close up. They are accompanied during the day by a group of enthusiastic volunteers.

Lopital is proud to contribute to this so that these Oeteldonkers can also enjoy a carefree and festive day.
